Here you see two screenshots of my first game, written in ppl, which I will publish in near time .
I have still to work on the graphics, but the most work for the first 10 levels is done(as you can see the two different landscapes) and in the last week I have fixed almost every bug . I plan to release first a small preview version with this 10 levels and before I am going to finish the game completely I will write a small tutorial for beginners about the tile engine I used, including the editor. I hope it will help somebody.
greets,
nicknack
Ps:I still have to find a title for the game.
Edit:Btw I have made the game to 90% on the ppc.

I'm not really a fan of this type of game, but it still looks cool.  I can't wait to get my hands on it.

love that you made it 90% on the PPC.
that's probably the main reason i chose PPL.
so i can work on code when i'm out and about.
look forward to it.

I give you guys a lot of credit.  Even with the nice interface Brad has created, trying to write a program on the PPC itself drives me nuts!

so here i'm back from my vacation, i have nearly completed the in-game graphics (@zehlein: yeah, i use pocketpciture( http://osdmsoftware.googlepages.com/pocketpicture ). it's the best free paint program i found for ppc) and tried to make some speed updates, but now i have some strange new bugs. tomorrow i will open a new thread about these bugs and some other concerns.
So long!

Nicknack,
there are certainly a few people around here ready for beta-testing, if needed

Glad to see you've finally released a playable version of this game.  I took it for a spin, and while as said before I'm not a big bomber-man fan, it's actually pretty cool.  From a level design perspective, though, I did find the two guys in the last tunnel of level two basically impossible.  I'm not saying you shouldn't have traps like that, but maybe not so early on in the game.  I did run into one bug as well.  When you disable sound, the first event that would normally cause a sound effect instead causes the game to crash.

did you play it on the pc or on ppc? i haven't tested it much on the pc, but on ppc it all runs fine by me. so there is a difference in sound handling between pc and ppc, isn't it?
btw i will release version 1.0 with ppl 1.3, then i will also add music, more levels and the bug fixes.

Actually, I get the error on both the PC and PPC.  However, I will note that I have a Dell Axim X5, and I have had problems with sound on other games as well.  They just don't usually crash on me

By the way, you never responded to your post on group projects...

Did you give up on this project?  I was really looking forward to a final release, but none ever came.

yeah i give up the idea of a pure bomber clone, but i have already given up that idea in the development phase of the game.
i considered it more as an exercise and preparation for later tile based projects and i still intend to create such.
but in the possible case i would continue it, i would rewrite the whole code and that would be equal to write a completly new game.
and in the moment i prefer other project ideas... however maybe some new concepts can change my opinion, e.g. a unlimited gameplay feature wouldn't be too difficult to include and sounds good.
though i have no plan how it should look like
,time will bring advice
