That's right, ArianeSoft will have a new product very soon. It will be called Nstall. Nstall is a universal PocketPC/Smartphone install builder that is very easy to use. With just one INI file and ZIP file(s) you can create an installer for your game or software in no time. With Nstall you can create shortcuts, add registry keys and copy files to any device supporting PocketPC2000, 2002, Windows Mobile 2003, 2003se, 2005 and 2006. You can let the user choose what OS and screen resolution they are running in to install only the proper files (the installer will detect these for you but you also have the chance to change these settings). No seperate CAB files for each version are required anymore, only one universal installer for all versions of Windows Mobile.

PPL 1.30 will be using this wonderful installer, you will be the first to try out this new installer.

We hope to release it in September at avery low price point. More details and screenshots to be posted soon.

Alain,

This sounds great but I'm a bit confused.

Is this a separate product you will be selling or is it included with PPL 1.30?
Will we be trying out the BETA release of Nstall or the actual product?

In any case I am looking forward to purchasing and using this product.

Keep up the great work!

P.S. Any idea when PPL 1.30 will be released?

I'm actually quite excited about this.  I've never cared much for PPC based installers, so it will be nice to have something that works directly with PPL for optimal ease of use.  Now even though this installer's claim to fame will be "one file rules them all", will I have the option to create cab files for those who like to run the install right on their device?

No CAB support in Nstall. The main goal of this project was to stay away from the CAB files.

Nstall is a seperate product that we will be selling.

PPL version 1.30 will be using this installer (in beta form) to install itself on the customer's device.

All you need to do is create your .ZIP file (with directory structure), fill out an .INI file and run the NstallCreator, which will create a self installing .EXE. Your installer will work from Windows, connect through ActiveSync and install the files on your device.

I will post some screenshots tomorrow.

I will also post the install INI file that we will be using for PPL 1.30. You will notice that all messages in the installer can be customized too.

Alain,
Your timing could not be better. I'm wrapping up the Serene Phone code this weekend (actually code is done... I just finishing the GoldFish animation sequence) and will be shipping out a beta to my testers before I take vacation next Wed. Would I be able to purchase a beta license to your installer and get a copy so I can take a shot at building an install this weekend?

Regardless of your answer... thanks for your continued efforts.

Blessing,

Andrew Beery

Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately the product won't be finished by next week. We are planning to release it in September. The beta will be done through the month of August internally.

Nstall will be able to install for the PocketPC and the PC in one installer. You can install a product for the PC and the PocketPC with just one installer.

The product is shaping up to be very nice. Very easy to setup and very powerful.

I've got some bad news for you guys.

This product is put on hold until we can find a solution to fix a undocumented problem we are having with WM5 and WM6 OS. The uninstall procedure is very tricky and we cannot seem to find a solution yet.

We will let you know if we can finish this product and if so when it can be released.
